Paris is the capital city of France. Each year, the city lures millions of visitors with its magnificent art, architecture, culture, and cuisine. The Marais district on the Right Bank of Paris, is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris, with buildings dating back to as early 1327, yet one of the trendiest neighborhoods with cool unique fashion, accessories, and home boutiques. Marais is also home to decadent specialty food shops with everything from a special honey made exclusively in Paris to an award-winning bakery known for its fresh out of the oven baguettes. During this one-hour tour. we will walk along one of the best shopping streets in Paris. Highlights of this tour include visits to an award-winning shop with over 200 kinds of cheeses, a paper and stationery boutique specializing in accessories for calligraphy, a bakery with the best baguette in Paris, a street where all the boutiques have handmade or handcrafted merchandise manufactured in France, a fine jewelry boutique where the owner designs and makes everything in his on-site studio, and a delightful children’s craft shop. There will be insider tips and information about why the food is so important in France, visits with local shop owners, and what makes the pastries and bread so tasty. Our tour guide is former New Yorker living in Paris since 2005. While in New York, he was a chef, caterer, and a chocolate and pastry maker for 25 years before moving to Paris. He has been a tour guide since 2007 and has given thousands of tours of his neighborhood the Marais. Our tour guide also writes an insider's blog about Paris with posts three times a week since 2006. His blog is about food, restaurants, fashion, shopping, and architecture.
