Accra & Cape Coast: Black History Journey from Streets to Slave Castle, a PRIVATE TOUR
Service Description
Located on the Gulf of Guinea in West Africa, Ghana sits along the Atlantic coast between Côte d'Ivoire and Togo. The country experiences a tropical climate with warm temperatures year-round, averaging 86°F (30°C). As the first sub-Saharan African nation to gain independence in 1957, Ghana holds a significant place in African history. The coastal Cape Coast Castle stands as a powerful and sobering reminder of the transatlantic slave trade, while modern Accra pulses with the vibrant energy of contemporary Ghanaian life. Join us for a unique Black History journey that bridges Ghana's painful past with its dynamic present. Our local guide begins live on the streets of Accra, sharing the energy and resilience of modern Ghanaian life, before taking you inside the historic Cape Coast Castle through specially recorded footage from this powerful UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walking live through Accra's bustling markets, traditional palaces, and lively neighborhoods, you'll feel like you're alongside a local friend discovering where Ghanaians shop, work, and celebrate today. Our guide will share easy to follow stories about Ghana's complex history and how it shapes the vibrant culture you see in the streets. During the tour, we'll transition to recorded segments filmed inside Cape Coast Castle, one of the largest slave trading posts on the West African coast. You'll witness the haunting dungeons where enslaved Africans were held before the Middle Passage, the "Door of No Return" through which they passed to waiting ships, and hear the powerful stories of those whose lives were forever changed within these walls. This blended experience connects the sobering reality of the slave trade with the strength and vibrancy of modern Ghana, showing how a nation remembers its past while building its future. Discover Ghana's Black History, from the pain of the past preserved in stone to the hope and energy alive in today's streets. $79 for each additional screen (does not apply to corporate customers.) * This tour is not designed for our corporate customers.
