Service Description

Amsterdam is the most populated place and capital of the Netherlands. It is built on many canals and is located in the province of North Holland. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The climate is similar to New York City's, with cold winters and warm summers. Amsterdam is known for its canal living, thin brick buildings, open skyline, rich history, and easy-going attitude towards life. It is an eclectic city that offers beautiful canals, tulip fields, art, lots of bikes (more than people who live there), iconic narrow houses stacked side by side, museums, food, and lots of culture. It is a beautiful old city built on trade and tolerance, and its success is due to the resourcefulness and innovation of its inhabitants from the 1200’s through today. Our live, interactive, virtual one-hour trip will take us through Amsterdam’s Old Town, where our guide will tell us stories about how it grew from a swampy marshland into one of the most important trading ports in the world. Our tour will begin at the mouth of the Amstel River, which gives the city its name. See and hear about the defenses that kept out high tide and how the town grew and flourished behind them. We will meander through this area and see the Old Church, the grand old dame of Amsterdam churches, and find out why there were also hidden churches. In one case, in the attic of a merchant’s house. We will pass through Chinatown, Nieuwmarkt Square, and the Dutch East India Company HQ. From there, it's a short walk to Dam Square, the bustling center of the city which is located where the ‘dam” crossed the Amstel River. On the square are the National Monument of the Netherlands and the Royal Palace. The next stop is the Singel, the old defense moat, and after that, we’ll walk through the grand tree-lined canal belt, the Gentlemen’s, Emperor’s, and Princess’s canals. These stunning canals lined with grand merchants' houses from the 16 and 1700’s have only been a UNESCO world heritage site since 2010. Our tour will conclude close to the Anne Frank House, with a view of the Western Church Tower on the canal-boat-lined Princess Canal. Amsterdam is a feast for the eyes. Our tour will cover history, quirky facts, Dutch cuisine, bike culture, and whatever else you want to talk about. $123 for each additional screen (does not apply to corporate customers.) * This tour is not designed for our corporate customers.
