Mexico City is a massive metropolis situated in the Valley of Mexico, surrounded by volcanoes and mountains. With over 20 million residents, it is one of the largest cities in the world. The city has a mild, spring-like climate year-round with temperatures averaging around 20°C (68°F) and a rainy season from May to October. The landscape is varied, with the historic city center on an ancient lakebed, dense urban neighborhoods spreading over the valley, pine forests in the surrounding mountains, and the towering snow-capped volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl visible in the distance. The city contains many contrasts, from the magnificent colonial architecture in the historic core to the endless concrete jungle of apartment blocks and highways. Aztec ruins dot the landscape, remnants of the great empire defeated by the Spanish conquistadors who built Mexico City atop the ancient capital Tenochtitlan. Despite the traffic, noise and pollution, Mexico City pulses with energy and culture. Mexico City is a UNESCO World Heritage site. During this one-hour tour, we will visit the most symbolic places such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, the ruins of the ancient Aztec city, the beautiful Postal Office, and Palacio de Bellas Artes. You will learn about history, architecture, and traditions.
