- (What will I be learning?) During this tour, you'll delve into the complex and often overlooked history of slavery, emancipation, and the ongoing struggle for civil rights. Our knowledgeable guide will provide insights into the Dred Scott decision, the Emancipation Proclamation, and the role of enslaved labor in the construction of iconic landmarks like the United States Capitol. Our virtual tour will commence at the Emancipation Memorial, also known as the Freedman's Memorial, a powerful statue located a few blocks behind the United States Capitol.
