Buda and Pest are across the Danube River from each other. Pest, on the east side, has flat terrain, while Buda, on the west side is hilly. Buda and Pest were united in 1873 and given the name Budapest. Budapest is a beautiful and glamorous city with a fascinating history. It is historical and modern, vibrant and calm, majestic and down to earth … all at the same time. Hungary’s history goes back more than 1,000 years. The golden age of Hungary and Budapest was in the 19th century when Hungary formed part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Most of the architectural wonders on the Pest side are from this era. On our one-hour interactive travel tour, we will explore the downtown area of Pest. We will find out about the capital of Hungary, and Hungarian history. Along the way, we will learn about the origin of the Hungarian people, their unique language, and much more. The tour will include stops at the architectural wonders, such as the stunning Parliament building, St. Stephen Basilica, and several monuments and memorials. Enjoy a stroll through the lively restaurant and coffee house quarter and marvel at the great view by the River Danube and Chain bridge. Let yourself get swept away by the glamour, beauty, and grandiosity of this wonderful and inspiring city! Our tour guide was born, raised, and resides in Budapest.
