Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is located in Central Europe and is divided by the majestic Danube River. The city is made up of two distinct areas: flat Pest on the eastern side of the river and hilly Buda on the western side. The two cities were united in 1873 to form Budapest. The city experiences four distinct seasons, with warm summers, crisp autumns, cold winters, and pleasant springtime weather. Known for its elegance and dramatic setting along the Danube, Budapest is a city where history and modern life blend seamlessly. Hungary’s history stretches back more than 1,000 years, with Budapest reaching its golden age in the 19th century as part of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy. Many of the city’s most impressive architectural landmarks date from this era, particularly on the Pest side of the river. Today, Budapest is a fascinating mix of historic grandeur and contemporary vibrancy, glamorous yet down to earth, lively yet calm. On this live, interactive 60-minute virtual walking tour, we will explore the downtown area of Pest together. Along the way, you’ll learn about Hungarian history, the origins of the Hungarian people, and their truly unique language. Our walk will include stops at some of the city’s most iconic sights, such as the stunning Hungarian Parliament building, St. Stephen’s Basilica, and several important monuments and memorials. We’ll also stroll through the lively restaurant and coffeehouse quarter, enjoy beautiful views of the Danube River, and admire the famous Chain Bridge connecting Pest and Buda.
