Join Discover Live for a live, interactive, 60-minute virtual walking tour through the historic village of Coupvray and discover the remarkable life and legacy of Louis Braille, the French educator and inventor who created the Braille reading and writing system used by millions of blind and visually impaired people around the world. Beginning at the village entrance, your local guide will introduce you to Coupvray's history, architecture, and traditional houses before arriving at the town square, where Louis Braille once accompanied his father to the market and where his story began. Continue to a monument dedicated to Louis Braille and learn why it was created and how its distinctive design represents his lasting contribution to the world. Along the way, visit the village wash house, an important gathering place in earlier generations, and discover what everyday life was like for the people of Coupvray. The tour continues to the village church, where Louis Braille was baptized.
