Dubai is a city and emirate (a territory ruled by an emir) in the United Arab Emirates known for its ultramodern architecture and luxury shops. It was not always the mecca that it is now. Dubai was once a fishing village. To see what it was like before the massive architecture took hold, we will visit the old city. The old city or historic quarter is the oldest residential quarter in Dubai and dates back to the 19th century. Our one hour, live, personal, virtual walking tour will start in Deira, which is a trading hub of Dubai and located on the Eastern side of the creek. Our guide will share with you some information about Deira and its importance. Then we will take a traditional water taxi called abra across the creek from east to west. The western side of the creek is known as bur dubai. It is also known as the main land of Dubai. We will have a walk through the colourful bur dubai grand souq after the abra ride. In the grand souq you will see a lot of small shops selling different things including spices and textiles. After this interesting walk through the grand souq your guide will take you to the al seef heritage market of al fahidi district of Dubai. We will discuss the history and culture of Dubai during our walk through corniche to Al seef. In Al seef you will see beautiful heritage buildings that were built in a traditional architectural style from traditional materials.
