The city experiences a temperate oceanic climate with mild summers averaging 64°F (18°C) and cool winters around 41°F (5°C). As the capital of the Republic of Ireland and its largest city, Dublin is the nation’s most important port and center of commerce and finance. The city is celebrated for its traditional music and dance, folklore, and fine literature, and its streets are lined with centuries-old cathedrals and stately manors.
