Kerala is a beautiful, picturesque city located on the tropical Malabar Coast of India. Kerala is renowned for its backwaters, canals, aromatic coffee, distinguishing spices and varieties of tea leaves. It is a prime location for nature lovers. Kerala is a place dotted with palm-lined beaches and captivating tea gardens. Kerala Folklore Museum is an Architectural Private Museum based in Kerala. It is located in the southern part of India. The Museum houses a 40 years collection of an Individual, George Thaliath, from Kerala. The collections are from all over South India, covering Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh. The artifacts kept inside the museum consist of masks, musical instruments, jewelry, paintings, tribal and classical art, just to name a few, which show the lifestyle and cultural elements in Southern India. The museum is completely made out of wood from 30 dismantled wooden houses, and serves as a paradise for all art lovers. The museum also boasts a number of V.V.I.P guest visits including Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall from Buckingham Palace, U.K , following several others as the first place to visit in Kerala and to experience Kerala Culture under one single roof. Gear up for this magical museum tour, it has been listed in the top 10 ‘must see Museums of India'. The tour also highlights the ethnic and traditional living stories ranging from aristocratic families to the indigenous tribal communities of Kerala. Built over three different architectural styles on three floors, Malabar, Cochin & Travancore (North, Middle and South parts of Kerala respectively), the building itself is soaked in the traditions, beliefs, language and religion of the people in South India. After our Museum tour we will head to the third floor of the Museum. It is a traditional dancing theatre adorned with 253 mural paintings along with a 63 ton wooden ceiling. Here we will see performers of the dance forms called Bharatanatyam & Mohiniyattam. They are the two special dance forms based in South India and quite famous globally as the main Indian Dance (Bharatanatyam).
