Montenegro is a country located in Southeastern Europe. It has a coast on the Adriatic Sea and is bordered by Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, and Albania. The country name Montenegro (from Venetian Italian) denotes “Black Mountain,” in reference to Mount Lovćen, its historical center near the Adriatic Sea and its stronghold in the centuries of struggle with the Turks. Kotor is a fortified town on the Adriatic Coast in a bay near the limestone cliffs. It is a town known for its Romanesque churches and Maritime museum. It is a beautiful medieval old town, with winding streets and squares. On our personal, live, interactive virtual walking tour we will begin on the outside of the town at the large arched entry. It is an ancient entry to a quiet town. Once inside the town, we will get to see the clock tower and the armory, in the main square, where people from Kotor gathered. Here we will learn about the history and unique construction of the church. We will also have a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains. Then, we will stroll past palaces, the first school for Tourism and Hotel Keeping, shops, boutiques and restaurants until we arrive at another square. As our walk continues, we will pass the Maritime Museum and plenty of cats. Our guide will enchant you with her stories and humor. Old town of Kotor has been on the list of the UNESCO world cultural inheritance since 1979. See for yourself how captivating this old town is.
