This virtual experience offers a chance to immerse yourself in this unique cultural mosaic, all from the comfort of your home. On this live, interactive 60-minute walking tour, we’ll explore the historic and cultural heart of Fort-de-France. We'll begin at the Schœlcher Library, an architectural marvel named after French abolitionist Victor Schœlcher. Originally built in Paris for the 1889 World Fair, the library was dismantled and shipped to Martinique, where it now stands as a vibrant and ornate symbol of cultural preservation and history. Next, we’ll visit the nearby Saint-Louis Cathedral, the spiritual center of Fort-de-France. With its striking spire and blend of Romanesque and Byzantine design, the cathedral has stood as a beacon of resilience and community through fires, earthquakes, and hurricanes. We’ll also pass by the Fort Saint Louis, a 17th-century fortress overlooking the bay. Still a French naval base today, its well-preserved walls tell stories of colonial defenses and battles past.
