Tségháhoodzání, better known as Window Rock, is one of the most sacred sites to the Native American (Navajo) people of Arizona. With its unique natural structure the Navajo people have made Window Rock the capital of their Nation. It is the largest reservation in the United States. Window Rock has been the historic home for many generations of Navajo people. There are many traditions and stories about the history of Window Rock that our indigenous guide looks forward to sharing with you. This one hour adventure will be filled with information about the Navajo people’s history, traditions, language, and ancestry. Along with this, our guide will share the dark history of the Navajos with the United States military, boarding school and MMIW (murdered, missing indigenous woman) movement. Leading this movement is a local Navajo who grew up in the area and is a native speaker. Major stopping points will be the Navajo Nation presidential office where the Navajo president resides. The Navajo code talker statue resembles the Navajo men that served the US military with the Navajo language.
