Service Description

Join us for an inspiring Women's History Month tour through Ljubljana, where we'll discover the remarkable women who broke barriers, built businesses, and transformed Slovenia from restricted suffrage to gender equality in leadership. This journey celebrates the pioneers who refused to accept limitations and paved the way for today's achievements. Our tour begins at Republic Square, exploring the fascinating evolution of political agency for Slovenian women. While women first gained the right to vote in local elections in 1911, they were initially required to be accompanied by a man to cast their ballots. Today, Slovenia has achieved a perfect 50/50 gender balance in its European Parliament representation, a powerful shift from silent participants to influential leaders. Walking through Ljubljana's historic streets, we'll uncover stories of pioneering women who defied the Austrian Empire's barriers. Learn about the Ursuline sisters who spearheaded female education three centuries ago, and Eleonora Jenko, who traveled to Saint Petersburg to study medicine when Slovenian universities were closed to women. We'll celebrate economic independence through Josefina Schumi, a 19th-century entrepreneur who successfully managed her own confectionery factory and navigated a rare divorce in 1880, proving women were carving professional legacies long before it was acceptable. Our narrative honors both the "invisible" labor of the past and high-profile victories of today. We'll pay tribute to working-class women—laundry workers and market vendors—whose grit sustained the city's economy for generations. This legacy of resilience culminates in Slovenia's election of Nataša Pirc Musar as its first female president in 2022. Discover Ljubljana as a living monument to the enduring spirit of women's empowerment. $79 for each additional screen (does not apply to corporate customers.) * This tour is not designed for our corporate customers.
