Building on our first exploration, this virtual tour unveils lesser-known stories and hidden corners that make York one of England's most fascinating cities. From ancient Roman foundations to modern migration stories, we'll discover the layers of history that continue to shape this city. Our tour follows York's magnificent medieval walls, among the best-preserved city walls in Europe, revealing how these ancient fortifications protected the city through centuries of conflict and change. We'll explore the atmospheric Shambles, taking a complete walk through England's most famous medieval street, where overhanging timber buildings create a tunnel-like effect. Here we'll uncover stories of butchers, merchants, and daily life in medieval York. The tour includes St William's College and the Treasurer's House, discovering how the medieval church accumulated wealth and power. We'll also admire the Great East Window of York Minster, one of the world's largest medieval stained glass windows.From the medieval Merchant Adventurers Hall, we'll explore how York's traders built international commerce networks.
