A normal Tuesday somewhere else
I miss the completely ordinary parts of traveling
This sounds strange, but the thing I miss most about traveling isn’t really the landmarks.
It’s waking up somewhere unfamiliar and walking out in the morning with nowhere urgent to be. Finding a little grocery store. Watching people head to work. Trying to figure out what everyone is ordering at a café. Sitting on a bench for twenty minutes because your feet hurt.
At the time those moments didn’t feel important at all. Now they’re the parts I remember.
Maybe that’s why I still like seeing ordinary streets and neighborhoods in other places. You get a little glimpse of what a normal Tuesday looks like somewhere else.
Anyone else find themselves remembering the boring little moments more than the “big” sights?

Oh, absolutely. Funny thing is, you spend all that time planning a trip around the big sights, but years later it's often the little things that stick with you.
I remember how enjoyable it can be just walking around somewhere unfamiliar, seeing how people go about their day, and stopping for a coffee without having to rush off anywhere. Nothing special happening, and that's sort of the beauty of it.
I suppose when you get older, you start appreciating those quiet moments a bit more. No schedule, no hurry, just taking things as they come. Hard to beat that sometimes. 🙂
